Poland is a country of many contrasts, from its extremely high level of destruction during World War 2 to almost 45 years of Soviet rule, leaving scars in the nation and its people. This makes it a fascinating place to work and live, but not without challenges.

Despite interim policy difficulties, the business environment in Poland continues to be highly attractive for international companies. This is also confirmed by the latest figures from the Chamber of Commerce, which show that the number of registered foreign companies in Poland increased by 6% year-on-year in 2023 to reach 650,000.

In the same report, the Chamber of Commerce also stated that there has been an increase in the number of Polish businesses investing abroad – mainly in the EU. This positive development is supported by the high level of economic activity in Poland, which has been maintained for several years now and a good level of consumer confidence.

The Chamber of Commerce also reported that the employment market in Poland remained very strong in 2023. The number of jobs created in the country grew by 1.6% year-on-year and unemployment was at a historic low of 3.3%.

The opening of the new practice in Poland marks Odgers Interim’s first in mainland Europe and is led by Richard Kaluzynski, who has over 25 years of recruitment experience in both the UK and in Poland. He is the joint managing director of Odgers Interim’s parent company, Odgers Berndtson, in Poland and also co-founded a recruitment consultancy in his home country.
