Psychedelic Therapy Services in Toronto
In the heart of the Entertainment District is Field Trip Health, which opened last year as Canada’s first psychedelic psychotherapy clinic. Its spa-like location, which resembles a West Elm showroom-meets-upscale yoga studio, features four private treatment rooms outfitted with noise-cancelling headphones, eye masks and weighted blankets where patients are administered an hour-long dose of ketamine (also known as Special K or Vitamin K), a drug that’s primarily used as an anesthetic during surgeries, but is also being researched for its effectiveness in treating treatment resistant depression, anxiety and PTSD.
Psychedelic Therapy Services in Toronto Baskin, an integrative psychotherapist who offers psychedelic-assisted therapy, says she’s often seen the treatment work for people suffering from complex PTSD and depression who haven’t responded to other interventions. “This is a powerful tool for bringing back meaning and vibrancy to life,” she said.
She and other therapists at Field Trip use a combination of traditional talk therapy with psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, including psilocybin and MDMA, an active ingredient in ecstasy. They’re hoping more research on psychedelics will lead to the day when they can be prescribed by doctors as part of more conventional therapy.

Currently, the drugs aren’t covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) because they’re considered “experimental.” But some therapists are starting to assist clients in applying for a special government approval under Health Canada’s Special Access Program for psilocybin and MDMA as part of psychotherapy sessions at their clinics. And as psychedelic therapy gains wider acceptance, more clinics are expected to open across the country.
